The 2014 Create Event was at Mary Buren Elementary in Guadalupe. Landscaping was done at the front of the school near the office and the school garden was cleaned up and new bark was laid down. A world map and United States map were painted on the blacktop; “paw print” markers were painted as guides for the children to stand on when lining up or playing games and to also serve as a guide for their track loop around campus. Many other pavement games were painted. Six murals were painted throughout the campus, two of which were California landscape themed. The California history timeline was installed in the cafeteria. Benches were built around a large tree with enough seating to host an entire classroom of students. Finally, Santa Maria Give and Grow’s first and biggest project: donation and installation of new playground equipment which included a slide, swings and monkey bars.
